Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is a kind of Carnival celebrated in New Orleans, Louisiana and in other parts of the world as well.

The most famous one is celebrated in New Orleans, Louisiana, However, the festival takes place in a number of other cities and countries such as Rio de Janeiro Barranquilla, Colombia; Belgium, George Town, Cayman Islands; Port of Spain, Germany, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago; Quebec City, Quebec, Canada; and Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.
h3. What are Mardi Gras colors?
The traditional colors of Mardi Gras are gold, purple and green.
These colors are associated with specific symbols – purple represents justice, green represents faith, gold represents power and money (of Course)
In the US (New Orleans), people like to dress up like fairies, animals, mythical creatures or the Medieval outfits. Also, some of the costumes feature golden masks from Venice tradition. Sometimes the celebration even includes women exposing their breasts in exchange for beads and trinkets. NEXT ONE Feb 25th for those of you who like to plan ahead.
May Day was also celebrated by some early European settlers of the American continent. In some parts of the United States, May baskets are made. These are small baskets usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away. There are also many Pagan festivals happening at this time and we all know what that means.
